Baylor Men's Tennis Advances Back To NCAA Round of 16

Razorbacks Top Wichita State To Advance

Auburn, which improved to 25-10, will play Florida State at noon CDT on Saturday. The individual championships consist of 32 singles players, with the selection based on win-loss record and strength of schedule. The Terps will be making their 33rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 28th straight trip.

Senior Rhiann Newborn provided the clincher for the Lady Bears with a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Trigona in No. 3 singles.

The No. 45 women's tennis team will take on No. 17 University of Kentucky this Friday in a regional NCAA tournament match hosted by the University of MI.

The Seminoles are now 10-4 all-time in the first round of the NCAA Championship, all but one of those wins coming under the watch of head coach Dwayne Hultquist.

"I was really pleased with the way we competed today", UF coach Bryan Shelton said. "This being my last tournament is definitely weird, which is why we are just trying to take things one day at a time and enjoy every minute".

"I think you have to give Navy a lot of credit; they came out here fighting". "We've prepared all year for this and I couldn't be more proud of the leadership we showed today".

In singles, freshmen Alex Knaff and Rana-Roop Singh Bhullar stepped into the lineup at courts five and six, respectively, and Florida State jumped out to one set leads at the bottom half of the lineup on courts four through six. After defeating IN in the final match of the regular season, the Gophers followed suit with another win over the Hoosiers IN the first round of the tournament. Seniors Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) and Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) clinched the point with a 6-3 victory at two.

Dwayne Hulquist is in his 18th year as the Seminoles' coach, so he was 1-11 against Jackson and Florida. "It's not going to be an unknown". It is the fifth NCAA playoff appearance for the Midshipmen, who have won a pair of play-in games, but are 0-4 in the first round. Senior Aldila Sutjiadi comes in at No. 22 in singles and sophomore Akvile Paražinskaite is ranked 103rd. He's 10-8 playing No. 1.

Penn State earned the No. 4 overall seed and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after going 15-3 overall, including a 5-1 mark in conference play.

If anyone thought the Quakers (13-4, 6-1 Ivy) would struggle with the Midshipmen going into Friday's contest, it probably would've been because of Navy's high-octane offense, one ranked ninth nationally entering the afternoon averaging a stellar 15.42 goals per game. And we get to play the No. 1 team in the country.

The Bulldogs (11-7) are now 2-1 in NCAA Opening Round contests and a flawless 2-0 when hosting. Domenica Gonzalez and Eva Paalma trailed, 2-1, at the No. 2 line after ULM's Karolina Snita and Madalina Grigoriu went up a break, but the Aggie duo was first off the court after winning the next five consecutive games to take the match, 6-2. "That definitely can scare the other team and help make our team feel a little bit more confident". "All these teams are good", he says. "But I'm sure they're not too happy to have to play the Razorbacks in the first round, either".

SC kept its momentum as Andrew Schafer and Yancy Dennis claimed the first two singles matches in straight sets.

"I think in nearly every sport it's a huge advantage to be the in SEC", Jackson said.
