Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry Help Bring NBA Title Back to Oakland

Warriors Win 2017 NBA Championship

"Oh, my gosh, more than that", he said. They're going to have to get me down from this cloud.

Monday night was about more than winning.

They didn't allow last season to repeat and avoided losing the final series after having a 3-1 lead. In Game 5 on Monday, Lebron James or Kyrie Irving or J.R. Smith would hit a big shot and the Cavaliers would believe they had a chance.

Durant took heat from critics saying he should have stayed with the Thunder and built a powerhouse team around himself and Russell Westbrook.

None of that was an issue for the Warriors as Durant has been called an unselfish player whose only desire was to do whatever is in the best interests of his team.

Durant's first National Basketball Association championship win also came with the title of Finals MVP.

In addition, Draymond Green, who was suspended for Game 5 past year, will be playing.

While the Warriors pick at the end of the first round now every year and they aren't in position for the prime picks, they have still done a tremendous job of finding value. "I thought we played well and got better each game". Sixteen wins. One loss.

James hit a 3-pointer on the next possession and the Cavs didn't go away, cutting a 17-point deficit to three in the opening minute of the fourth quarter with help from Smith's 25 points.

Still, the series could easily be tied 2-2. Will he bring in more role players as he did with 3-point ace Kyle Korver in order to build a better challenge for the Warriors in the finals? At the very least, the near-win gave Cleveland some life. Nobody wanted him. A lot of people didn't expect these guys to be where they are today.

So what kind of numbers would a Spurs-Cavaliers matchup have produced for the Finals?

"I don't know. I probably won't", West said.

Durant played a huge part on that by coming in and immediately blending in his individual game into their playing style and culture from the get-go.

But when watching the Warriors play, it's been obvious from the beginning that Durant wasn't just simply freewheeling behind Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

"We need to enjoy this to the fullest", star guard Stephen Curry said.

And on the other side?

"Creating a trade that makes sense for Cleveland and the team that acquires Love is hard, but there is one possible deal that would work for all parties involved: Love for Paul George".
