Elvis Presley's new greatest hits album could extend his Official UK Albums Chart record

Elvis left the building too soon, but 40 years after his death, his ability to inspire other generations remains

This year, on the 40th anniversary of the rock "n" roll icon's death, it cost them $28.75.

From working down the chip shop to a Kalamazoo Burger King, Elvis spotting has become a staple of silly-season tabloid reporting.

When Elvis met his wife Priscilla she went to live with him in Graceland, she lived there for five years before they got married.

The auction has been organised for charity which enables sellers to list items to benefit non-profit organisations.

Elvis fans were happy to see Lisa show up for the 40th-anniversary celebration this year, following the tough year she has faced.

An "Elvis suite" in her home is devoted to memorabilia such as a piece of the original upholstery from Presley's 1960 solid gold Cadillac in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977 at his Memphis, Tennessee mansion.

Elvis remains the bestselling solo artist of all time. Despite clear statements from doctors and a coroner that the 42-year-old superstar was dead, disbelievers were adamant that the gyrating beloved baritone had faked his own death to go into hiding. "Like, I can't even imagine Elvis doing a selfie - it's just not like him".

Salamone loved Elvis since she was a little girl.

"I just head the voice and it got to me, just something about that voice".

"I was in my living room listening to a Elvis record and my brother came in and told me he heard it on the radio", Lynnette Murphy said".

Also puzzling was a man who, on the day of Elvis's supposed death, bought a plane ticket from Memphis to Argentina using the name Jon Burrows, the pseudonym the singer always used when checking into hotels.

It's one of the purest rituals of affection I've seen in the celebrity/music game, which as we all know can be saturated in cynicism. "We have so many memories, so many things that you can't share with anyone else".

Elvis has the edge when it comes to number one singles, however, having to date enjoyed 21 compared with just three for Sheeran.

"Las Vegas hasn't been as successful and it's something that we wouldn't come back to on a permanent basis", he says.
