Eddie Lacy wondering whether he should make a Lambeau leap

Thomas Rawls a gametime decision but Seahawks mostly healthy as they head to Green Bay for opener

Green Bay's passing defense was not very good last season (31 in the league).

The Seahawks seem to be at full strength.

In NFL history, only four players have won three or more MVP awards: Peyton Manning (five); Johnny Unitas (three); Jim Brown (three); and Brett Favre (three).

Depth at outside linebacker behind starters Clay Matthews and Nick Perry emerged as a concern in camp, so the Packers added veteran free agent Ahmad Brooks after he was cut by the 49ers.

The numbers vary slightly depending on the oddsmaker, but SuperBook.com's odds this week are representative: The Patriots are favorites at 3 to 1, followed by the Packers and Seattle Seahawks (10 to 1 each), Dallas Cowboys (12 to 1), and Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers (both 13 to 1).

Expectations will always be high for the Green Bay Packers' offense with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. The Packers certainly want a strong running game to ease the pressure on Rodgers. Sunday, it should be a miss. If Bulaga can't go, either Kyle Murphy (more likely) or Jason Spriggs will start, and the Seahawks surely will test either. But as Favre also pointed out in a recent visit to Green Bay, all he can really control is his own performance. His effect was low density before forcing the second most pressures a year ago on the Packers roster with 37.

Locally, the Carolina Panthers were part of that turnover last season.

Before offering my two cents on the contest, let's hear what the Packer players are saying about the kickoff to the campaign.

"We went through a lot of four-game losing streaks", Kendricks said with a chuckle. And after a year with New England's Bill Belichick and Tom Brady last year - and eight seasons with four other National Football League teams - he's got plenty of them. When you go against Aaron Rodgers, you can not afford to sputter on offense. All the offensive line has to do is not be doormats and the Seahawks will have a chance.

"I'll definitely take as many they give me", he said. The up-tempo (has been) extremely productive in the preseason, so he looks good.

Richard Sherman was a new addition to the injury list with a thigh injury. Rodgers last threw an interception in Week 10 of the 2016 season. That should be interesting to watch.

We've seen Lacy run over a defender a time or two in his time with the Packers. Crossing or seam routes to the tight ends, especially if Rodgers finds them covered by linebackers.

I think the Seahawks defense will start out slow. When the schedule was released in April, the conference contenders knew they could rid that bad taste with an important season opening NFC win. The team felt Rawls may have rushed back last season, which led to him suffering another injury in the second game of the season that then sidelined him for seven games. The offense, on the other hand, should be high-powered the entire game. We know what kind of player he is, so he's had enough glimpses of the look in preseason that you can see him get to rumbling with the football.

"Sometimes I just play Michael Jackson (on the sound system)".

Carroll also said he has no concerns about how defensive lineman Michael Bennett will play Sunday after a week in which he revealed that he had been held at gunpoint by Las Vegas police on August 27 as they investigated an active shooter situation at a casino. Rodgers will only be able to complete underneath routes, leading to two field goals through three quarters.
