Texans Have Little Chance of Having Three Healthy Tight Ends

Bill O'Brien: Five Texans in concussion protocol unlikely to play Thursday night

A running back with the balance and power combination of Fournette can make up for an offensive line's shortcomings.

Equally as impressive was a complementary performance by a Jaguars offense coming off a terrible preseason. The best thing Bortles did was hand off to Leonard Fournette. Jacksonville used their will look to prove that he was worth the 4th overall draft pick in 2017 that the Jags used to select him out of Louisiana State University after finishing with 843 yards and 8 touchdowns in an injury-shortened 2016 season for the Tigers.

Watson is the best option for the Texans presently and in the future.

And that's not all.

Without Robinson the Jaguars will have to rely heavily on Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns, as well as veteran Arrelious Benn, who is one of the team's core special-teams players.

Pair the dominant Jaguars pass rush with a secondary that shut down Houston's passing game sans a few costly penalties, and this defense in Jacksonville is a unit that should strike fear in opposing teams. That's the type of run-pass mix we just have not seen from the Jaguars since Bortles took over as the team's starting quarterback back in 2014. Every day in pratice I tell them we can do it, just give me a couple of seconds and I'm going to take it, whatever they give me.

One of those newcomers is Calais Campbell.

Brown, a 32-year-old offensive tackle, hasn't reported to the Houston Texans throughout training camp and preseason, and in Week 1, it looked like the Texans needed him. "We didn't perform the way we wanted to for ourselves, for anybody". I think we missed 10 tackles in the game. By then, the stadium had emptied out and any semblance of heart on the defense went away with those fans on the way out. And who could blame them?

Houston will enter this game with a lot of emotion as the town continues to recover from Hurricane Harvey. But rather than ridicule the Texans quarterback, who was making his second (and perhaps final) National Football League start, we should look back fondly on his achievements, of which there are some (depending on how you define the word achievement). Watson forced a throw (in 2.3 seconds) to Anderson, setting up an easy opportunity for Gipson to step in front of the pass and grab an interception and return it 67 yards to set a Jaguars field goal. He has given to our great city more than we could ever have asked for! We didn't care about that.

Of course, it's only Week 1, so there are no insurances Jacksonville is for real despite its first-place status in the AFC South. Maybe Fournette will be able to duplicate what we saw from Ezekiel Elliott during his rookie season.
