There are many reasons you can point out for the Cowboys defensive futility in their 42-17 loss at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Offensively, Denver also ran the ball for 140 yards, C.J. Anderson and Jamaal Charles combining for 121 of those. One of the best things that we do is control the tempo of the game with our physicalness and our running game. A humbling reminder to not only the Cowboys, but Cowboys fans that this team has holes, and against good teams, they will get exposed.

LEARY PLAYS: Ron Leary, who bolted Dallas for Denver's four-year, $35 million deal in the offseason, played against his former team after clearing concussion protocol Saturday. "We couldn't get any movement off the ball".

And then Aqib Talib punctuated the day with a 103-yard pick-six that propelled him past Hall of Famers Deion Sanders, Ken Houston and Aeneas Williams and into fourth place on the NFL's all-time list with 10. He stepped in front of Dak Prescott's end-zone pass intended for Dez Bryant and sprinted down the sideline for the score, leaping into the seats to celebrate.

You can give the credit to Peyton Manning, who orchestrated most of those wins.

With the Broncos being an old AFL team and not a very good one at the merger, these two squads didn't play until December, 1973 and it won't surprise you to learn that Cowboys dispatched Denver 22-10.

"So, that's a big emphasis for all of us, again players and coaches alike". The Cowboys enter this game off the heels of a dominant victory over the New York Giants, a game in which second-year quarterback Dak Prescott absolutely shredded New York's formidable secondary.

While Denver's Trevor Siemian tied a career-high with four TD passes against Lee's D, the Broncos recorded a late 103-yard pick-six on Dak while limiting 2016 National Football League rushing champ Ezekiel Elliott to just eight yards on nine carries.

"We just were getting dominated up front", said Elliott, whose previous worst game was a 51-yarder in his National Football League debut against the Giants past year. "It's frustrating but it's Week 2". "We've been playing great as a defense".

An hour-long weather delay that came at the end of the first quarter.

Once the storm passed, play was resumed.

The only big blemish in Denver's fifth straight 2-0 start was the apparently serious injury to their top draft pick, left tackle Garett Bolles, who left the stadium on crutches and with a boot on his left foot after getting hurt in the third quarter.

Cleared to play, Elliott rushed for 104 yards in the Cowboys' 19-3 season-opening win over the New York Giants on Sunday night despite the Giants' focus on stopping the run. The Broncos' defensive end swallowed Elliott five yards behind the line of scrimmage. Denver ended up 380 yards of total offense and scoring six total touchdowns. It never happened. Talib and Chris Harris Jr. bottled up Bryant down the field and Cole Beasley underneath. They could pinpoint one or two plays that, had they gone differently, might have changed the outcome. He could put in four field goals in this one.
