"The iPhone 8 looks too identical to the iPhone 6 or 7".

The new Apple iPhones only has a '2 layered' sensor that is composed of a sensor and a logic chip and the recently launched iPhone X is only able to take 240 pictures in a second based on full HD resolution.

The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are all powered by the new A11 Bionic SoC which features two high-performance processing cores alongside four efficiency-minded cores. The phone is available for USD 929.99 without an agreement or payment plan and comes in Midnight Black with 64GB of storage.

Samsung also announced around the same time that it had received around 395,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 8 in South Korea. This gives strong indications that Samsung may move away from the Sony-made sensors in its future smartphones, although nothing is confirmed yet on that front.

In a market where subscriber defections have been low as people hold on to their phones for longer, carriers initially introduced deals with less generous discounts on the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, in a move analysts said would help margins.

For instance, a one-year-old Verizon iPhone 7 currently fetches $325 at used phone seller Gazelle, compared to $255 for an iPhone 6s last year, which at that time was one year old. The phone has IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

Tech giant Samsung Electronics' latest flagship Galaxy Note 8 has been picking up traction with robust initial sales in Korea, industry data showed on Sept. 18.

The looming question, of course, is whether Sprint's rivals will return fire by stepping up their own iPhone promotions. There is no physical home button and the fingerprint sensor has moved on the back of the phone.

With major component upgrades, Apple now faces the same challenges that Samsung has navigated for years.

Samsung enthusiast site Galaxy Club has spotted the Galaxy S8 Oreo update lurking on Geekbench. The Galaxy Note 8's accessory bundle is as beefy as its specifications. Hopefully, Samsung will price it competitively enough to make it a good deal, but we have our doubts.
