According to the Korea Central News Agency, a communications arm of Kim Jong-un's government, the U.S. "will meet terrible nuclear strike and miserable and final ruin" if America engages in an act of war against North Korea. "Tolerance for this disgraceful practice must end now".

The US military staged bombing drills with South Korea on Monday, sending a pair of B-1B bombers and four F-35 fighters from Guam and Japan to join four South Korean F-15K fighters.

The live fire exercise involved USA marines, army and air forces, along with their South Korean counterparts, targeting an imaginary enemy attacking from the mountains to the north.

"It is likely North Korea will turn back to additional testing of [Hwasong 14] intercontinental ballistic missile to see if they can improve its performance", he added.

North Korea denounced the United Nations resolution calling it an "inhumane act of hostility" against its people, system and government.

The US Senate passed its version of a $700 billion defense policy bill on Monday, backing President Donald Trump's call for a bigger, stronger military but setting the stage for a battle over government spending levels later this year.

The United States has urged China, North Korea's main ally and trading partner, and Russian Federation to do more to rein in Kim, something Trump appeared to allude to in his speech.

North Korea launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile on August 29 and another on Friday. The U.S. aircraft then made their way to the Korean Peninsula, where they honed their attack capabilities with the South Korean Air Foce by releasing live weapons at the Pilsung Range training area.

The U.S. aircraft and four F-2 Japanese fighter jets then conducted formation training as they flew together over waters near Japan's most southwestern main island of Kyushu.

Trump kidded Moon about his use (or his interpreter's use) of the word "deplorable".

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered new sanctions on Thursday that open the door wider to blacklisting people and entities doing business with North Korea, including its shipping and trade networks, further tightening the screws on Pyongyang's nuclear and missile program.

He repeated his call for China to put more pressure on the Pyongyang regime as he urged a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

"The secretary reassured his Japanese counterpart of America's unwavering commitment to the defense of Japan and the broader security of the region", Director of Defense Press Operations Col. Rob Manning said.
