Bauer to start for Indians in Game 1 of ALDS

Bauer tapped to start game 1 for Indians

Sabathia, who is starting Game 2 on Friday against his former club, wasn't so sure.

Cleveland has announced that Trevor Bauer will get the start in game one of the Division Series. Bauer will start game one for the Tribe and was 17-9 with a 4.19 ERA and 196 strikeouts this season.

The Yankees might continue with a tactic of pulling their starters early on, considering there are two days off in the potential 7 games, and they will likely carry 12 pitchers into the series.

The Yankees, who reached the division series for the first time since 2012, will begin a five-game series against the Indians in Cleveland on Thursday night. I didn't get a chance to meet him at the All-Star Game because I wasn't there, but everybody came back raving about him as a person. But the biggest thing for us is to be able to bond and support the city. That was really important to Kluber.

NY will go with Sonny Gray on Tuesday versus Cleveland Indians' starter Trevor Bauer.

The Cavs superstar even suggested that the Indians could win 40 games after they set a new American League record when they beat the Tigers, 5-3, for their 21st consecutive win.

Kluber will pitch Game 2.

This still is the Indians' series to lose, and the Yankees can't expect a barrage of home runs from Judge and co.

NY manager Joe Girardi has 12 pitchers.

"Don't take anything for granted", Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor answered in the Indians clubhouse when asked what he learned from previous year. Trevor's done a heck of a job. Judge is 1-for-1 against him, which implies nothing.

We are undoubtedly in for a good, competitive series, but overall this is Cleveland's series.

Kluber didn't start last year's ALDS opener against Boston, but that was because he was coming off a hamstring injury. Luis Severino went just 0.1 innings in the start, giving up a pair of home runs and three earned, not factoring in the decision.

Then there is Chapman, whose pitches topped 101 miles per hour or more 166 times this season alone, nearly double the amount produced by the rest of the league. The goal from Day One wasn't to win the AL Central or have a record winning streak, but to get back to the World Series and finish the job. Carlos put together a very solid year (18-6, 3.29 ERA, 226 K's), and is more than capable of altering the course of a series. Brantley is on ALDS roster primarily as a pinch-hitter. Brantley was sidelined for 50 games with an injured ankle ligament before returning last week and getting a single in his first at-bat since August 8.

"That's where Brantley comes into play", Francona said.

Heartbroken after coming up a little short past year against the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland figured to make it to October for another swing at ending a World Series drought stretching back to 1948. It means the Indians will start Giovanny Urshela at third, with Erik Gonzalez serving as the utility infielder.

"Everybody's even", Francona said.

"They've got a lot of guys who hit for power". If we feel the need to hit, we can.
