Kyle Busch battles 'heat stroke,' suffers loss in NASCAR Cup standings

The Backstretch Blog's Race Day:Round 2

"It just hits you like a ton of bricks, and it hit me today in Victory Lane, and all of a sudden you can't talk". The No.78 was seventh in the weekend's only practice session, but the auto didn't seem to have it's normal speed. His teammate, Erik Jones, has only raced here once but showed he can be very consistent as he started 7th in the Coca-Cola 600 and finished 7th. That's not what happened though, as Truex struggled to move forward with an ill-handling vehicle early on. It was held the next day, a gorgeous Sunday in North Carolina. This is the part of the playoffs where things start to get interesting. He's also picked up three top-10 finishes in that period. With a win on Sunday, Busch will become the first driver to boast a checkered flag at every active Cup track. He ended up crossing the finish line with a few vehicle lengths between him and the rest of the pack, so for those few laps, everyone in the pit box had to postpone their celebrations. But Harvick couldn't pass the eventual race victor.

Larson possibly had the best vehicle to challenge Truex, but a tire changer slipped on a pit stop when Larson was leading with 55 laps remaining. He also dominates the intermediates and is averaging just under 100 DK points per race on them this season.

By the time the race was nearly over, his lead was fairly cemented. Not that there was much doubt - he keeps carrying over a ton of playoff points (now 62) into each new stage. "But, overall, it was just the hottest I've been in the vehicle". I think I've gotten better at winning or learning how to win. You dream about days like today.

Series point leader Martin Truex Jr. automatically qualified for Round 3 of NASCAR's four-round Championship Playoff Series by winning Sunday afternoon's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at.

The humidity drained several drivers, including Truex, who had to catch his breath after taking his sixth victory of the season.

"I'm all right, I'm better now", Busch said after bags of ice brought his temperature down. "Hopefully, the weather stays away and we can race while the sun is out". And he's like yeah, that's where we went wrong.

"We try to make them happy, the fans are a special type of breed". He comes back to Charlotte with a win and four Top 5 finishes in his last five races with a series-leading 756 laps led, more than 500 more than second in that category. Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, Daniel Suarez, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Blaney, Kasey Kahne, and Kyle Larson rounded out the rest of the top-10 finishers from Sunday.

Kyle Busch emerged from the infield care center at Charlotte Motor Speedway carrying a water bottle, relieved that a long, exhausting day was finally over. But if the worst happens and he finds himself in a must-win to stave off elimination, Pearn constructs such fast cars Truex could still come through in the clutch and still punch his ticket to the next round.
